Today I had the opportunity to interview Mr. Kenta Hagimoto, a physical therapist working in Japan. In fact, I personally have my body condition checked by him once a week through online sessions.
I was introduced to him by a friend, and he is someone I truly trust. He sincerely works with each patient and puts great effort into helping them improve. Today I would like to share some of the valuable insights he shared with us here on the E&K Wellness blog.
The Connection Between Mind and Body Recovery
Q: Does a person’s mental state affect physical recovery? A: I strongly feel that it does.
Q: How do you approach patients who are experiencing strong stress or anxiety? A: I place great importance on the words I use. I try not to deny their feelings and instead choose words that help them feel safe and reassured.
Q: Have you experienced situations where relaxation and reassurance helped recovery? A: Yes. Sometimes simply telling a patient, “There are others with similar symptoms,” helps them feel that they are not alone. That sense of reassurance can support their recovery.
Daily Life and Self-Care
Q: What kind of self-care would you like people to continue doing? A: Rather than anything special, getting enough sleep and going outside instead of staying inside all day are very important parts of daily life.
It is often said that magnesium can support good sleep and help relax muscles. I also include it as part of my own self-care routine. One of the supplements I personally use is here:
Q: Is there any care people can do even when they are busy? A: Even if it’s just one thing, continuing to stretch every day is helpful. The small feeling of “I did it today” builds confidence.
Q: Does how people spend time at home affect recovery? A: Very much so. Instead of only watching TV, it is important to create small reasons to go outside and stay active.
Small Daily Efforts Create Recovery

Q: What message would you like to share with patients? A: I always tell them that it’s okay not to be perfect.
Q: How do you share small improvements with patients? A: Sometimes patients don’t notice changes themselves. As trainers, we make sure to point out movements they are now able to do that they couldn’t before.
Q: Do you have any strategies for people who find it difficult to continue treatment? A: We try not to push too hard. Even once a month is okay. For patients who cannot come in person, we provide home exercises and keep communication through LINE and other methods.
After the Interview
Through this interview, I was reminded that recovery often comes not from something special, but from small daily habits and consistency.
What impressed me most was the warm and supportive attitude Mr. Hagimoto has toward his patients.
“It doesn’t have to be perfect. What matters is continuing even small things.”
These words are meaningful not only for physical recovery, but also for our everyday wellness and lifestyle.
I am very grateful to have had the chance to hear such thoughtful and encouraging insights. At E&K Wellness, we hope to continue sharing wellness ideas that support both mind and body health.
